Capture solution helps insurers provide a connected, digital customer experience.

Lexmark recently announced the availability of Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Insurance, a solution that leverages the Lexmark smart multi-function printer (MFP) to help insurers digitize key processes to better serve customers, gain efficiencies and ensure compliance.

“Insurance customers today expect to interact through digital channels that provide a simple, convenient and consistent experience,” said Larry Early, Lexmark global industry director. “Despite progress made, much of the information required for core insurance processes–like applying for new coverage, renewing a policy or filing a claim–is still communicated through paper-based documents. Getting that data into an otherwise digital process can be time consuming, costly and an irritant to customers. We developed Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Insurance to help carriers and agencies overcome this challenge.”

Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Insurance enables insurance carriers and agents to provide a connected, digital experience by effectively and efficiently capturing and processing paper forms and documents and quickly inserting them into existing systems of record to streamline digital business processes.

“This solution effectively turns the Lexmark MFP into a gateway to core systems for an agent, claims adjuster, field underwriter, home office associate or anyone supporting a customer,” Early added.

Smart Document Capture for Insurance was designed to streamline, digitize and simplify information management all across the insurance enterprise, allowing users to:

  • Onboard new applicants with ease: Automate new application capture, tracking and alerts for faster processing and more efficient onboarding.
  • Accelerate remote payment processing: Easily submit and validate payments directly from the Lexmark MFP in a local office.
  • Enable automated claims processing: Leverage automated data extraction and verification to quickly process claims documents, eliminate errors, and avoid redundancies.

With capabilities that range from scanning directly to a system of record to intelligently processing documents, Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Insurance is tailored to meet the specific needs of the insurer. A fast, intuitive and simple user experience requires minimal training for enterprise-wide use. Intelligent technology makes it easy to capture documents and identify any missing customer information at the point of origination to drive customer satisfaction, process accuracy and compliance. The solution’s agility makes it easy to integrate information and documents captured even at remote locations.

“Lexmark has decades of experience providing document management solutions to the insurance industry,” said Allen Waugerman, Lexmark chief technology officer. “Our depth of industry expertise and leading document capture and processing technology has allowed us to create solutions that reduce costs, eliminate manual tasks and increase productivity for insurance carriers across the globe.”

Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Insurance is a custom solution available via Lexmark authorized resellers or directly from Lexmark.

New solution gets paper-based patient data into the EMR faster, helping healthcare providers meet HIMSS Stage 7 requirements.

Lexmark recently announced the availability of Lexmark Point of Care Scanning for Healthcare, a solution that enables providers to quickly and easily capture paper medical records and incorporate them into health information management (HIM) workflow, helping providers meet HIMSS Stage 7 requirements.

“According to HIMSS Analytics, a key requirement in reaching HIMSS Stage 7 requirements involves the capture of paper medical records,” said Ken Woodruff, Lexmark Healthcare industry director. “To be validated as a Stage 7 hospital, all clinically relevant information must exist electronically in the EMR within 24 hours of creation. Lexmark Point of Care Scanning provides hospitals a user-friendly, cost-efficient way to simplify this information capture and meet this HIMSS Stage 7 requirement.”

Lexmark Point of Care Scanning for HIMSS Stage 7 leverages the power of a Lexmark smart multifunction printer (MFP) to streamline, simplify and enhance the capture of clinical information, right at the point of care. “The solution can be configured to meet hospitals wherever they are on the HIMSS Stage 7 attainment process and integrate with their existing systems,” Woodruff said.

The Lexmark Smart MFP customizable interface ensures clinical users need minimal training. Fast capture at the MFP allows for batch capture of multiple records without PC-based workstations, expensive software or desktop scanners. Users can review the entire document at the MFP before sending to HIM workflow for better patient record quality. Lexmark MFPs feature advanced scanning capability to help prevent double feeds, misfeeds, skewed images and more.

Lexmark puts its healthcare industry expertise at the forefront of this solution, providing HIM-credentialed workflow experts to assist in designing a solution configured for each hospital’s unique needs and workflows.

“More than 1,400 hospitals in North America use Lexmark technology for mission critical output so we know this industry well,” said Allen Waugerman, Lexmark senior vice president and chief technology officer. “Healthcare providers are challenged to keep up with an ever-changing set of regulations and technology innovations. Lexmark Point of Care Scanning helps hospitals overcome one of the top challenges to achieving HIMSS Stage 7 requirements. It is the latest addition to our robust healthcare offering that helps providers gain efficiencies and deliver better patient care.”

Lexmark recently introduced a solution that automates manual processes to improve efficiency and constituent satisfaction. Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Government, leverages the Lexmark smart multifunction printer (MFP) platform to simplify error-prone and inefficient paper-based processes, driving greater efficiency, constituent satisfaction and security.

“In our years of working with top U.S. federal agencies as well as with all 50 state governments and many local governments, Lexmark understands the tremendous pressure to provide constituents higher service levels, while making government processes more secure and compliant,” said Marty DeGraff, industry director, Lexmark.

“We built Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Government to help customers manage and overcome these challenges. The solution provides an onramp to converting physical paper into a digital format at the very beginning of a government process. The result is a quicker, more seamless experience that accommodates constituent preferences, adds efficiencies, and helps keep information secure,” DeGraff said.

Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Government features capture technology that is fast and simple, allowing users throughout the agency, including remote offices, to transform paper documents into a digital format. Intelligent technology makes it easy to print on demand, capture information from the Lexmark MFP device and identify any missing documents, driving process accuracy and compliance. Seamless integration makes it easy to unite capture processes with existing agency and back-end government systems.

Leveraging a Lexmark MFP, Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Government can streamline, digitize and simplify information management all across agencies:

  • Process constituent applications with ease: Quickly capture and verify constituent services documents to make faster, more accurate decisions to speed up the approval process.
  • Expand citizen engagement touch points: Enable constituents to begin capture processes in kiosk-enabled MFPs, while providing complete visibility and tracking of the required data to be processed.
  • Onboard constituents with increased speed: Gain the visibility to know exactly which forms have been completed or are still outstanding for faster, more accurate onboarding.

“Our government customers are focused on serving constituents who expect a seamless, omnichannel experience and quick resolution,” said Allen Waugerman, Lexmark senior vice president and chief technology officer. “Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Government is the latest addition to a government solutions offering that is designed to automate paper-based processes so agencies can provide faster, more accurate and secure services to their constituents.”

The Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Government solution is available via Lexmark authorized resellers or can be purchased directly from Lexmark.

A team of volunteers from Lexmark headquarters in Lexington, Ky., recently completed the company’s 22nd Habitat for Humanity house in the city.

The home was built for Cecile Kahindo, who fled war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo 10 years ago. After four years in a refugee camp in Uganda, she made her way to Lexington. She and her daughters had been living in a small apartment for nearly three years before they moved into their new home.

Kahindo contributed 250 hours to helping build her home and taking home-ownership classes as part of the Habitat requirement known as “sweat equity.” Her house was dedicated last month, and Kahindo recently moved in with her daughters, Furaha, 11, Deborah, 5, and Victoria, 1.

“My two older girls helped with the build and getting the house ready for us to move in,” Kahindo said. “We’re very happy. To have your own house makes you strong and inspires you to work really hard, because you know what you’re paying for will one day be yours.”

Lexmark Habitat volunteer co-coordinator Chris Case was among the 70 Lexmarkers who contributed about 600 hours to building the house from April into July.

“It is so rewarding to work with my Lexmark colleagues each year to build a Habitat for Humanity house,” Case said. “I’m already looking forward to working on next year’s house,” he added.

As for Kahindo, she is forever grateful to Habitat for Humanity and Lexmark.

“I want to say thank you to everyone at the company, especially the volunteers who were there for us and were all so nice,” Kahindo said. “Thank you for everything to make my dream come true.”

New solution speeds paper-based processes, freeing retail store associates to focus on customers.

Lexmark International, Inc., a global imaging solutions leader, today announced the availability of Lexmark In-Store Capture for Retail, a solution designed to speed inefficient paper-based processes, keeping store associates on the sales floor interacting with customers.

Lexmark In-Store Capture helps retailers leverage their multifunction printer (MFP) fleet to simplify and speed up error-prone and inefficient paper-based processes across their stores, such as onboarding, invoicing, receiving and incident reporting.

“While behind the scenes paperwork is not the store associate’s job, a number of necessary in-store tasks take their attention away from customers,” said Matthew Dollus, Lexmark vice president, global industry solutions. “We developed Lexmark In-Store Capture specifically to help retailers minimize time spent on paperwork and empower associates to focus on first-class customer service on the sales floor.”

“In-Store Capture happens at the MFP and touchscreen interface and is as simple as using an app on a mobile device,” Dollus explained. “The app walks users through the capture and routing process. Changes and additions can be managed at headquarters and pushed out to all managed MFPs instantly.”

The solution can identify all documents required for a new hire, incidents or shipments and present a list of missing documents allowing the store employee to scan missing documents as they are received. Direct integration with most store and back-end retail systems makes Lexmark In-Store Capture an enterprise-ready solution.

Based on 25 years of experience working with retailers, including eight of the 10 top global retailers, Lexmark In-Store Capture bridges the gaps between paper-based processes and their digital systems in human resources, invoicing, receiving and incident management:

  • Onboarding: Each store can scan printed documents from a new hire onboarding packet to a central location, giving HR a more comprehensive view of onboarding activities and eliminating paper-based confidential information at the store.
  • Invoices: Stores can instantly send invoices to the appropriate approver—no more waiting for packets through the mail to process invoices. Digitizing this process also eliminates the need for outsourced data entry, reducing time to process and associated cost.
  • Receiving: Stores can easily track all receiving documentation, providing temporary storage until resolution as well as the ability to pass the information to an enterprise storage system.
  • Incidents: The solution provides a temporary storage space for incident-related documents, notes, photos and other items, which holds the collection of information until it is transferred to headquarters.

“Retailers continually face new challenges and consequently, Lexmark is continually developing new solutions to help them succeed,” said Allen Waugerman, Lexmark senior vice president and chief technology officer. “Lexmark In-Store Capture is the latest addition to our retail solutions offering that helps customers more effectively manage signage, processes and printing.”

The Lexmark In-Store Capture solution is available via Lexmark authorized resellers or can be purchased directly from Lexmark. Go here to learn more about Lexmark In-Store Capture for Retail or click here to find out how Lexmark Retail Solutions can transform your operations.

Lexmark today announced it has been positioned for the sixth consecutive year as a leader in managed print services (MPS) by leading European-based industry analyst firm Quocirca.

The Quocirca Managed Print Services Landscape report is an independent vendor analysis of the global enterprise MPS market. The report states that Lexmark, “particularly excels in providing effective management across highly distributed customer environments, in addition to centralized operations. This proposition particularly appeals to large enterprises operating across multiple locations.”

“Lexmark is proud to be named an MPS leader by Quocirca for the sixth straight year,” said Brock Saladin, chairman, Lexmark Executive Management Committee. “Quocirca called out our ability to effectively serve large, global customers based on our technology and expertise.”

“Our dedication to helping customers manage ever-evolving industry trends that impact their business is what separates Lexmark from our competitors in the managed print services arena,” added Saladin.

The Quocirca report praised Lexmark analytics, saying, “it has boosted its proactive management capabilities to include predictive models that take advantage of device sensor data, alerts and error messages. The ability to use predictive analytics to anticipate service actions, identify trends in print volume, helpdesk calls and rates of intervention, or to capture additional sensor data from the devices is increasingly critical in ensuring a high level of service quality.”

Key Lexmark strengths also cited in the report include:

Global execution: “Lexmark has strong credentials when it comes to global execution. Lexmark offers a single global system to support its entire MPS business, which enables it to deliver consolidated global reporting and analytics. Although its global delivery model will appeal to large multinational enterprises, it also offers strong regional delivery capabilities that allow for local customisation. Its scalable service offering also ensures that businesses of all sizes can benefit from a customised MPS offering.”

Industry expertise: “Lexmark’s field teams are organised by industry supported by dedicated industry experts and consultants with business process and industry vertical expertise. This is enhanced by Lexmark’s mature set of solutions around workflow automation and industry solutions.”

Analytics: “Lexmark is making significant investments in the use of analytics to optimise the output environments for its MPS customers and improve device availability and streamline business processes. This enables deeper analysis of the customer environment and allows Lexmark to identify and recommend implementation of industry specific workflow and business process optimisation services.”

Lexmark brought home an extra award from the 2017 Manufacturing Leadership (ML) Awards Gala.

Several Lexmarkers attended this month’s gala in Huntington Beach, California, to accept three ML Awards from Frost & Sullivan’s Manufacturing Leadership Council. The awards were announced earlier this year.

Additional awards were announced at the gala, including 12 recipients of the ML High Achiever Award. The award is presented to the ML Award-winning projects that received the most votes from the judges in each of the 12 ML Award project categories.

Lexmark won the High Achiever Award in the Internet of Things category for our ML Award-winning Predictive Service Project.

To sum up the project: Lexmark has built an operational analytics engine that leverages predictive algorithms and models based on device alerts and deep sensor data. Through this technology, we’ve been able to use the power of big data to bring new capabilities online, such as automatically initiating service requests to greatly reduce the support burden and end-user disruption for our customers.

“We were really excited to have the Manufacturing Leadership Council recognize our new capabilities and the benefits that our customers are observing when they partner with us,” said Phil Carter, director of proactive service management.

Lexmark’s other two ML Awards this year were in the Supply Chain Leadership category for our Finished Goods Pull Replenishment project, and in the Collaborative Innovation Leadership category for our Visual Process Management project. Learn more about Lexmark’s award-winning projects.

In 2016, we won two ML High Achiever Awards from among three winning projects.
