The Lexmark healthcare team is having a big week at the 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
Today Lexmark announced a new imaging solution that connects Lexmark MFPs to EDCO Health Information Solutions’ Solarity® platform, one of the world’s leading scanning and indexing software solutions for medical records.
Also today at the conference, the Lexmark healthcare team was presented with an inaugural BLI PaceSetter award for our exceptional portfolio of devices, solutions and services for healthcare providers.
Introducing the Solarity Connector
Lexmark’s new Solarity Connector solution enables hospitals to use a Lexmark MFP at the point of care, such as a nursing unit, to capture clinical information into the Solarity workflow. Using the solution, providers can quickly and easily scan a stack of documents on a Lexmark MFP without specifying patient or document types. The images can be previewed on the MFP touchscreen and are then automatically indexed by the Solarity software.
The solution will help facilities reach HIMSS Stage 7, the top level on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model. To be validated as a HIMSS Stage 7 hospital, clinically relevant documents must be available in the electronic medical record within 24 hours of creation.
“Hospitals that strive to meet the requirements for HIMSS stage 7 find that scanning and indexing at the point of care can be very complex and labor intensive,” said Lynne Jones, president, EDCO Health Information Solutions. “We are pleased to work with Lexmark to provide the most efficient point-of-care scanning and indexing process in the market today.”

Known as the industry’s largest health IT conference, the HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) event annually brings together more than 40,000 health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world.
Lexmark honored with BLI PaceSetter award
Representatives from Buyers Lab (BLI), the world’s leading independent document-imaging test lab, stopped by the Lexmark HIMSS booth today to present the company with a 2017 PaceSetter award in the Healthcare: Group Practices category.
The BLI PaceSetter is a first-of-its-kind award that recognizes the vendors that offer the most impressive portfolios of devices, solutions and services for healthcare providers.
The leadership award is based on customer buying requirements in eight categories: hardware, software, service/support, security, professional services, role of vertical leadership, industry certifications and value/price.
“Clinics, group practices, outpatient and transition-care centers, and other small to mid-size healthcare providers are confronted with the same regulatory scrutiny and information-security concerns as hospital networks, but generally without the luxury of large IT support teams to handle the particulars. So selecting a partner that can help shoulder those burdens is so important,” said Jamie Bsales, director, Office Workflow Solutions Analysis at BLI. “Our study showed that Lexmark offers not only the right document imaging hardware for such environments, but also the software and expertise to ensure customers get the most out of the solutions after the sale.”
Ken Woodruff, healthcare industry director, and Seth Johnson, healthcare industry consultant (pictured above, left to right), accepted the BLI award on behalf of Lexmark.
“It’s an honor to accept this inaugural award, validating our healthcare market leadership,” Woodruff said. “We have more than 25 years of deep industry experience, and our healthcare solutions are truly helping providers improve patient outcomes.”
