Buyers Laboratory (BLI), the world’s leading independent evaluator of document imaging hardware and software, today announced its Winter 2013 “Pick” award winners honoring outstanding document imaging software solutions.
Amongst the winners was Lexmark Distributed Intelligent Capture, which was named “Outstanding Document Processing Solution”. Distributed Intelligent Capture is an enterprise-class capture and processing solution that connects Lexmark multifunction printer solutions on the front end with powerful server-based processing software that analyzes document content to intelligently extract data and route the documents appropriately.
“Lexmark has a strong history of recognition for our solutions offerings,” said Julie Knight, manager, Lexmark worldwide solutions marketing. “This award is a first for Lexmark in that it integrates technology from Lexmark’s imaging and print business with technology from our acquired software companies. Lexmark sees the continued recognition from BLI as validation of the customer benefits associated with its expanded software portfolio.”
Bestowed twice a year by the editors of BLI, the awards honor the top-performing solutions evaluated in BLI’s lab during the previous six months.
“Lexmark’s acquisition of Brainware, Inc., last year netted it a unique recognition engine that can intelligently identify critical words and data from the context of the document, instead of relying on preset templates to tell the system where critical data falls on a page,” said Jamie Bsales, senior product editor for solutions at BLI. “This means the system can process even unfamiliar document layouts with surprising accuracy, minimizing the time-consuming and error-prone manual intervention and rekeying of data that would otherwise be required.”
